PIPE LAYER
Dan’s Excavating, Inc. is seeking Highly Skilled Pipe Layers for Heavy & Highway Construction work in the Greater Detroit Areas for the 2021 and beyond seasons.
- Must be able to pass Drug Test & Preplacement Physical
- Ability to travel depending on project
- Must have 2-5 years minimum Heavy/Civil Construction Experience
- Must understand & comply with all company safety policies & procedures
- Must be able to communicate with equipment operators
- Ability to bend, push, pull, stoop and/or twist
- Must be able to follow verbal instructions
- Must be able to dig trenches to locate utilities using hand or trenching tools
- Must be able to handle, fit/cut & install drainage, sewer, water & associated items
- Must be able to fine grading trench bottoms to correct elevation, manual placement & compaction of pipe bedding
- Must be able to perform strenuous work in varying weather conditions
- Construction of sewer or drain manholes which includes finishing of poured in place concrete inverts
- Setting up pipe laser, layout of pipe routes following written & or verbal instructions with Supervisors
- Must possess the ability to adapt to different personalities & management styles
- Must be a Team Player w/strong interpersonal & verbal skills
- Must be dedicated & hard working
- Pay is per Union Scale

Dan's Excavating is in need of a Small Tool Repair Technician who is able to work on small diesel/gas engines, electric and gas pumps, as well as gas and electric powered tools. Must be motivated and pleasant to work around. Basic mechanic tools needed. Overtime is available!! 40+ hrs/week is typical. Opportunity is available for future advancement.

Project Engineer
PROJECT ENGINEER
A Project Engineer, is an individual who has obtained a four-year engineering or construction management degree and reports to either a Project Manager, Senior Project Manager or Vice President in a support role. Project Engineer’s work assignments will be both field and office based as required within a 45 to 55-hour work week. Consideration for advancement to Senior Project Engineers will be based on work performance and experience.
Project Engineer’s in cooperation with others on the project are responsible for:
BIDDING
- Attend Pre-Bid Meetings
- Investigate and administer Insurance issues as they relate to job specifics
- Perform site investigations
- Quantity take-offs on Agtek or otherwise
- Assist with the assembly of Bids
- Preparation of Bids for review by Manager
- Delivery of Bids
AWARD/PRE-AWARD
- Preparation of DBE Blue Sheets
- Assist with DBE Waivers
- Preparation of Subcontracts
- Assist with the development and maintenance of the Progress Schedule/CPM
- Insurance Certifications, distribution
- Assist with the Testing Order
- Assist with Trainee Assignments
- Attend Pre-Construction meeting
- Assist with the preparation of Purchase Orders/Subcontracts

- Assist with necessary notifications
- Routing of Shop Drawings

CONSTRUCTION

- Resolve any items on Insufficient materials Report with MDOT/Owner

- Track Contract Modifications and Work Orders. Distribute to Subcontractors/Suppliers as necessary.
- Initiate and monitor all DTE Service Contracts
- Assist with the investigation and development of Temporary Designs and Construction Methods.
- Manage projects under direct supervision of Senior Project Manager or Vice President
- Assisting with day to day activities on projects including submitting lane closure notifications, submitting work zone access plans, attending progress meetings, etc.
POST CONSTRUCTION
- Assist with Balancing Requisitions
- Assist of Final Quantities
- Assist with processing of Claims
- Preparation of PR-47 Forms
- Release of Permit Deposits

Heavy Duty Truck & Trailer Mechanic
About the Job
Dan’s is looking for an experienced Heavy-Duty Truck Mechanic to maintain a fleet of water trucks, gravel trains, low boy trailers & bucket trucks. This position will entail performing basic preventative maintenance and services, light diesel engine & transmission repair and the repair of electrical systems and braking systems.
